Every 21st-century organisation is eager to earn employee’s high commitment that will culminate into sustained organisational performance. Employee centred welfare is one of the major initiatives that drive high job commitment. The objective of this study is to assess the scope of employee welfare schemes, job commitment and strategic management approach to various forms of welfare packagesin the world of work. The study engages reports from secondary data sources from reputable and scientific databases. Relevant information gathered from various articles were conceptually analysed and discussed. The notion is to find out if the welfare schemes adopted in manufacturing firms contribute to employees’ commitment, particularly in the highly competitive business environment. Various employees' welfare schemes and job commitment constructs were reviewed in line with the objective of the study. It was revealed that employee centred welfare schemes hadsignificant effects on job commitment. Therefore, organisations should adopt best employee welfare practices that will drive high job commitment and productiveengagement for sustained organisational performance.
