Surface effect of environmentally assisted corrosion growth of automotive welded steel performance
(Materials Proceedings Volume 38, Part 5, 2021-03) Fayomi O. S. I.; Samuel Olusegun David; Mashilo Matsobane; Popoola Abimbola Patricia; Agboola Oluranti; Balasubramanian Dhinesh
Failure of steel in automobile industries due to environmentally assisted medium in service is alarming. In this study an effort has been made to investigate critically the corrosion induced performances of automotive welded part. The experimental correlation on the effect of corrosive media (NaCl and HCl solutions) on the base metal, heat affected zone (HAZ) and weld metal formed were examined using linear potentiodynamic polarization technique. The hardness, microstructural and phase rationale of the studied joint was evaluated using, diamond base indenter, Scanning electron microscope and x-ray diffractograms respectively. The results revealed that the base metal has no detrimental phase transformation unlike the HAZ and the weld joint region. The hardness value of 185 HV welded joint was obtained compared to 235.95 HV of base region. The corrosion propagation in the 3.5NaCl and 1 M HCl shows that pitting deterioration occurs at the welded position in all case as a result of the shift in grain refinement and micro-straining during welding process.

Short review on the prospect of laser cladding for aluminum based alloys composite for automotive industries
    (RESEARCH ARTICLE, 2022-08) Agboola O.; Fayomi O. S. I.; Ayoola A.; Ayeni A. O.; Alagbe E. E.; Sadiku E. R.; Popoola P.
Laser cladding is a growing technological method that utilizes a navigating high power laser for melting a small region of the substrate; it has a function of trapping and melting entering powder particles. Hence, the process leads to the development of a new stratum. Aluminum alloy Matrix composites afford properties suchlike high wear resistance, high tensile strength, lightweight; this composites is finding wide applications in automotive industry. This review presents a brief discussion on laser cladding for aluminum base alloys for automotive industry with emphasis on aluminum alloys matrix composite for automotive industry.

Short review on solvent resistance nanofiltration membranes for the treatment of waste water
    (2022-08) Agboola O.; Fayomi O. S. I.; Sadiku R.; Popoola A. P. I; Adegbola A. T.; Moropeng I.; Oyebanji J. A.; Oluwasegun K. M.
With the potential wastewater generated in modern chemical industries, separation of organic at more extreme conditions is inevitable. On the account of finding a sustainable and effective separation, the preparation of solvent-resistant Nanofiltration (SRNF) membranes appeared to be a promising solution. In this review, a short overview on SRNF and its benefits was given. We highlighted the efforts made in using SRNF for some industrial applications like bio-refinery and petrochemical. The performance evaluation of SRNF for different applications was also discussed, briefly. Factors responsible for the Stability of SRNF membrane and classification of SRNF Membranes were also discussed.

Short overview on the mitigation of corrosion in coal gasification plant
    (RESEARCH ARTICLE, 2022-08) Agboola O.; Fayomi O. S. I.; Adegbola A. T.; Moropeng I.; Sani S. E.
Tn a coal gasification plant the performance of components significantly degrade over time under extremely sulfiding environments of the extreme temperature coal gas. The use of newly discovered organic corrosion inhibitor such as DNA from plants and animals could mitigate corrosion in coal gasification plant. However, reports have revealed the deposition of an appropriate coating on a low cost alloy could enhance components resistance to the attack of sulfidation; hence, minimizing capital and working costs. Here, we review the coal gasification process and methods of mitigation corrosion in coal gasification plant

Review on coal-fired power plants from post-combustion CO2 process and challenges
    (TECHNOLOGIES AND MATERIALS FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY, ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY: TMREES21Gr, 2022-05) Agboola O.; Moropeng M. L.; Fayomi O. S. I.; Oyebanji J. A.; Oluwasegun K. M
The capturing of CO2 from power plant flue gases offers unique chance to alleviate the emissions of coal-fired power plants to the environment. The fraction of CO2 captured and the increased production of CO2 that results from loss in the whole efficiency of power plants are determinant factors for the net emissions reduction to the atmosphere via carbon dioxide capture storage. Post-combustion capture is of great interest as it is easy to implement as to existing power plants. The use of post combustion capture in power plant was reviewed. The challenges of post combustion process were reviewed with possible solutions.

Influence of Organic Composite Material for Coating Application: A Review
(4th International Conference on Science and Sustainable Development (IOP Conf. Series), 2020) Adejumo O. A.; Fayomi O. S. I.
Composite materials have been used to coat products and substrates in different industries like Aerospace industry, Automobile industry;welding industry etc. The aim of this review is to describe the impacts and the effects of composite materials on coating applications in different industries. The first application mentioned was in the Aeronautic Industry, where powder (a composite material) is used to coat substrates. It has been studied and widely accepted as one of the most environmental friendly, economically beneficial and functional coating material. New types of powder coating are being developed to improve the aesthetic designs of Aeronautic and Automotive industries products. The second application was in the welding industry and its impacts on the electrode tool life was studied. The tool life is improved by 71% when TiC composite is used to coat the electrode.

Pillars of Effective and Efficient Energy Systems in Nigeria
(International Conference on Energy and Sustainable Environment (IOP Conf. Series), 2021) Fayomi O. S. I.; Banjo S.O.; Agboola O.; Oyebanji J. A.; Udoye N. E.
Nigeria is posed with a myriad of challenges to achieving efficient energy systems; the colossal collective demand for sufficient electricity for approximately 200 million is a concern. Another challenge is the mismanagement of Nigeria’s abundant resources, by individuals and by groups. It has withheld us, for decades, from making the bold and rapid progress which ought to have made for the energy system. This report explores the concept of an energy system in Nigeria perspective and progresses.
